PRIVATE & SEMI-PRIVATE LESSONS

Piano, Guitar & Voice

Piano: aged 3 +*
Guitar: aged 5 +*
Voice: aged 5 +

  • Piano lessons are for children aged 3 and older, who must be 3 years old by the time they begin.
  • We can offer guitar lessons using the Loog Guitar (short scale with 3 strings) for children aged 4 and up. Please consult us for more information.
  • Classes are 30, 45, or 60 minutes. Please consult with your teacher for recommended lesson length.
  • Semi-private lessons must have 2 participants, as we do not offer participant matching.

We strongly believe that building a healthy and strong teacher-student relationship is essential to a successful learning experience.  Therefore, we offer adaptive and inclusive private lessons carefully tailored and personalized for each student based on their strengths, preferences, and goals. We ensure their well-rounded musical development by teaching fundamentals such as reading notes/chords and playing with proper technique through fun and engaging exercises in improvisation, singing, composition, music theory, and rhythm games.

Our Unique Approach to Early Music Learning
Creative Music Foundations (Ages 3–5)

We are able to start music lessons with children at a slightly younger age than many traditional programs. This is because our lessons are thoughtfully designed to incorporate activities that prepare students for traditional music study, as well as elements integrated throughout the lesson. By blending these components (some examples are listed below, though this is not a complete list), we are able to create a unique and developmentally appropriate learning experience.

***

In our early childhood music lessons, we focus on building a joyful and natural relationship with music before introducing formal technique.

At this age, children learn best through play, exploration, and creativity. Instead of starting with traditional notation alone, we use a multi-sensory, creative approach that helps children understand music in an intuitive and engaging way.

Our approach includes:

    •    Color-Coded Notes
We introduce musical notes using colors (for example, C = red, D = orange), helping children quickly recognize pitch while also learning the physical layout of the keyboard.
    •    Creative Composition
Children are encouraged to create their own short musical patterns using a limited set of notes (such as C–D–E). This gives them a sense of ownership and confidence from the very beginning.
    •    Teacher-Supported Musical Experience
The teacher transforms the child’s ideas into complete musical pieces by adding rhythm and accompaniment. This allows children to experience how their simple ideas can become beautiful music.
    •    Rhythm Exploration
As students progress, we begin to explore rhythm together, helping them organize their musical ideas and develop a sense of timing and flow.
    •    Low-Pressure Music Introduction
We do not force children to play before they are ready. Instead, we maintain short, gentle exposure to the instrument while keeping the experience positive and stress-free.

Why this works:

    •    Builds confidence through success and creativity
    •    Develops natural musical understanding (pitch, rhythm, structure)
    •    Reduces resistance and performance anxiety
    •    Encourages intrinsic motivation and long-term engagement

Our goal is for each child to feel:

“I can create music” before “I have to play correctly.”

This foundation leads to a smoother and more enjoyable transition into traditional music playing as the child grows.
